At LTR Digital, for more than the decade we’ve believed that staying ahead isn’t just about following trends—it’s about mastering the tools that redefine the landscape or clients contend with. Looking back over the last two years, our journey with Artificial Intelligence and Large Language Models have evolved from awareness and a curious exploration into a core strategic engine.

As we move through 2026, we find ourselves at the edge of the next great shift: Agentic Commerce.

2024: The Year of Discovery.

For LTR Digital, 2024 was a deep dive into the “what” and “how.” It was the year of the Large Language Model (LLM). Like much of the industry, we spent our time:

  • Demystifying LLMs: Understanding the difference between simple automation and the generative power of models like ChatGPT and Gemini.
  • Internal Experimentation: Testing how AI could streamline our internal workflows, from content ideation to data analysis.
  • Learning the Guardrails: Discovering the limitations of early AI—hallucinations, data privacy concerns, and the vital importance of “human-in-the-loop” oversight.

It was a year of foundational education that prepared us for the high-stakes implementation that followed.

2025: From Strategy to Implementation and “Unexpected” Results.

If 2024 was about learning, 2025 was about doing. We transitioned from experimentation to full-scale strategy development and implementation for our ecommerce clients.

We integrated AI into the very fabric of our client’s marketing plans.  The results? They weren’t just good; they were unexpectedly transformative.

  • Conversion Breakthroughs: Clients surprisingly high ROAS as AI assisted performance marketing began to predict shopper intent in real-time and.
  • Operational Efficiency: We helped eCommerce clients implement AI-assisted performance marketing campaigns across product verticals and helped them expand into markets that were new to them.
  • Data-Driven Precision: In early 2025 we implemented measurement tactics to give us visibility, to the extent possible, on AI’s impact on client website traffic.

In a year where many website were reporting drops in website traffic, by implementing an AI-Forward approach and AI-Assisted performance marketing, our eCommerce clients actually saw their website traffic grow 19% year over year.

2026: The New Frontier — Agentic Commerce

Today, in 2026, we continue to refine and scale the successful strategies that defined 2025. But as the tech moves, so do we. We are once again in a phase of discovery and helping our eCommerce clients prepare for next stage of the evolution: Agentic Commerce.

What is Agentic Commerce?
It is the shift from “AI as an assistant” to “AI as an agent.” We are moving toward a world where autonomous AI agents—acting on behalf of both the consumer and the brand—negotiate, evaluate, and execute transactions.

Why 2026 is Different:

In the past, a user asked an AI for a recommendation. In the age of Agentic Commerce, the user’s agent might:

  • Reason: Understand that the user needs “running shoes for high arches under $150.”
  • Act: Browse dozens of stores, compare real-time inventory, and verify shipping speeds.
  • Execute: Negotiate a loyalty discount and complete the purchase autonomously.

At LTR Digital, we are currently helping our clients prepare for this “Machine-to-Machine” economy. We are focusing on making product data machine-readable, optimizing for Generative Engine Optimization (GEO), and ensuring our clients’ brands are “selectable” by the autonomous agents that are becoming the new primary shoppers.

Looking Ahead
The journey from 2024’s first prompts to 2026’s autonomous agents has been a whirlwind, but our mission remains the same: ensuring our clients don’t just survive the change—they lead and benefit from it.  To learn more about the model that we implemented in 2025 that delivered these unexpected results, visit our page that describes the 3-Pillar AI Readiness model that we developed.
